What is GNN?
The Global Nanotechnology Network (GNN) is a diverse group of stakeholders from industry, government, and academia dedicated to promoting international cooperation in nanoscale research, education and technology development.
Governed by the principles of shared ownership and universal participation, the GNN fosters cooperation between developed and developing regions of the world and serves as a platform for addressing shared global challenges such as energy, environmental protection, health care, and public safety.
The GNN includes participating organizations in more than 30 countries.
Serve as a platform for addressing global challenges thorugh nanoscale science, engineering, technology development, and education. GNN programs and initiatives focus on four integrated program strands.
The GNN was launched by international partners iin 2001 and developed through a series of international workshops involving researchers, educators, and policy makers from academia, government, and industry. GNN continues to organize global, regional, and bilateral workshops to foster cooperation in nanotechnology research and education.
GNN is based on the principles of shared ownership and universal participation by all regions of the world. GNN programs and initiatives are jointly supported by national and regional funding agencies as well as industry partners.
GNN is headquartered at the Materials Research Institute (MRI) at Northwestern University (US). Programs and Initatives are coordinated by MRI Director, Prof. R.P.H. Chang.
The GNN leadership structure will be formalized at the next GNN Development Workshop in Saclay, France in May 2010.
Participating Institutions
